John C. Michaelson, Partner/Portfolio Manager
Prior to launching Imperium Partners, John Michaelson served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Needham Investment Management from 1996-2005 where he oversaw the management of $1.5 billion in hedge, special situation, and mutual funds.
He served as the Co-General Partner of Needham private equity funds from 1995-2001. His sharp insight and impeccable due diligence quickly made him a valued asset to Needham’s clients.
Before joining Needham, Mr. Michaelson was co-founder of The First Boston Corporation Restructuring and Reorganization Group where he worked on many large restructuring projects.
Mr. Michaelson received a BA and a MA from Oxford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a Trustee of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, where he heads the Investment Committee and is a member of the Eton College Investment Committee.
Mr. Michaelson is the author of “Restructuring for Growth” and “Liquidity Strategies for Private Companies.”
